Atletico Madrid-Milan betting preview
Atletico Madrid host AC Milan in the second leg of a pre-quarter final match of the UEFA Champions League at the Vicente Calderon stadium. The Madrid side have won the first leg in Milano 1-0, and is favourites to go through to the quarter finals. They just need a draw.
Atletico appear the in-form side too. They have not lost a match in the Champions League. With a draw against Real Madrid and an away win over Celta Vigo in the previous two matches, they have seemingly brought back their La Liga campaign back on track. They are second in the league – three points behind Real Madrid. They just have to hold their nerve against an injury-marred and out-of-form Milan side to reach the last eight of the Champions League.
AC Milan have to find inspiration from somewhere to lift their game. They have been lacklustre so far – both in the Serie A and in the Champions League. They are coming into the match with two back-to-back defeats in the national league. Their attack appears bereft of any ideas and even their defence, normally a strong forte, looks porous.
One man who could have provided the spark of inspiration to Milan is Mario Balotelli. But he will not be playing, as he has not recovered from the shoulder injury he suffered in the first-leg match against Atletico. Midfielder Andrea Poli too will miss the match due to injury. Either Riccardo Montolivo or Giampaolo Pazzini will have to do a Balotelli.
Atletico will welcome back their most prolific striker Diego Costa, who netted the winner at San Siro. He missed the previous La Liga games due to suspension. With David Villa, Raúl García and Koke, he forms a terrific attack that can sweep the AC Milan hopes away.
Atletico Madrid-Milan Prediction
Milan need to win after scoring at least two goals to qualify. They will try to play a more attacking game than usual, which will open gaps in their defence. Atletico strikers do not let go good opportunities. An Atletico win or a draw is most probable.
