Chelsea-Galatasaray betting preview
Chelsea, who just had a disastrous EPL weekend, will have to recover quickly to face Galatasaray on this Tuesday at home in the second leg of UEFA Champions League pre-quarterfinals. The first game at Istanbul ended in a 1-1 draw. That means Chelsea needs a win or a goalless draw. Gala requires a win or 2-2 draw or higher.
This will be the best chance for Gala to cash in. Chelsea not only lost Saturday’s match against Aston Villa, but they had two of their key players – Willian and Ramires – and coach Jose Mourinho sent off. It is safe to say that Chelsea is in tatters. Gala too were held to a goalless draw by Karabükspor. The Istanbul outfit still has the firepower to take advantage of the Blue's woes.
Chelsea remain at the top of the EPL table despite the defeat, while Gala are the second in the Turkish Super League. If not for the weekend’s incidents, Chelsea would have started favourites. Any team playing at home with an away goal-draw should count themselves the better-placed team.
Plus, they are still formidable at home. Their only home defeat of the season in all tournaments came against Basel in their first match of the Champions League. Since then they have won 15 of the 17 home matches.
A subplot of the match is Didier Drogba’s arrival to Stanford Bridge. He is certainly a Chelsea heart-throb. For this match, the Chelsea fans want him to fail. They will also pray for the failure of Burak Yılmaz, Wesley Sneijder and Felipe Melo.
Chelsea have no dearth of star players. Eden Hazard, Samuel Eto'o and Andre Schürrle are the kind of players who can settle the outcome of the match by themselves.
