Everton-Southampton betting preview
Everton lost the game with Sunderland, but there is still time to end this year victoriously. This Sunday, they welcome Southampton at the Goodison Park.
Everton are still among the top teams in the English Premier league, despite their unexpected loss to Sunderland in the previous round. The turning point of that game was the sending off of their goalkeeper Tim Howard and the penalty kick that followed. Because of that, the American will be missing the clash with Southampton. The Toffees are on the fifth place with 5 points less than the table leaders Arsenal. Newcastle, Manchester United and Tottenham are close behind Everton, so this match with Southampton means a lot to them. Besides their regular goalkeeper, Everton will play this match also without Baines and Deulofeu. The rest of the main players are fit and ready to redeem themselves for the recent bad performance.
Southampton also have troubles between the posts. Their regular goalkeeper Boruc is absent for a long time now, and 21-year-old Argentinean Gazzaniga still searching for a form. They haven’t been playing very well lately, but the latest game gave them wings. They beat Cardiff in Wales by 3:0, giving them confidence for the clash with Everton.
Everton are definitely the side with better players in this duel. However, they are much better than the Sunderland also, but they lost that game. Without Howard, Everton are seriously vulnerable and I see Southampton trying to exploit that weakness. I think Everton will win, but it’ll be a close game. Choose between BTTS, Over 2.5, and Home Win.
