Lazio-Milan betting preview
Who among the big guns in European football are struggling the most? If you think it is Manchester United, you are wrong. That dubious distinction goes to AC Milan. “Struggling” is too mild a word to describe their perils. They have been reeling as if affected by some strange kind of black magic. Clarence Seedorf’s men are looking to avoid another defeat – what would have been the fifth defeat in a row – when they play against Lazio on this Sunday.
Lazio are seventh in the league, with 41 points. Their chances of securing a Europa League qualification are slim, as the sixth-placed Parma is five points away. Still, they would look forward to compound Milan’s miseries and bring themselves into the Lady Luck’s field of vision.
Half the recent matches between these teams – five out of ten – have ended in draws. Milan will be happy with a draw. The team is 11th in the league, with virtually no chances of securing anything worthwhile. Their immediate aim would be to arrest the current slide. That in itself is a huge task.
Milan have a bunch of non-performing stars: Mario Balotelli, Robinho, Kaká and Nigel De Jong. None of them seem to produce those sparkling displays any longer that would lift the whole team. Balotelli is likely to be subjected to racial abuse by Lazio’s ultra-conservative fans. If Mario chooses to respond to it with an awe-inspiring performance on the field, the Milan fans will have something to cheer about at the end of the match. Lazio’s Miroslav Klose and Keita have been reasonably good form.
Milan appears down and out. At this form, the best they can hope for is a draw.
