Real Madrid-Valencia betting preview
This would be a match-up between two teams at the opposite ends of the moods spectrum. Real Madrid will be jubilant after their 4-0 thrashing of Bayern Munich and entry into the UEFA Champions League finals. Valencia will be shell-shocked after their last-minute exit from the semi final of the Europa League.
Real Madrid need another win to keep pace with league leaders Atletico Madrid. Valencia have nothing at stakes other than pride.
Real Madrid have been in sparkling form. Their defence has become water tight. And it allowed their dazzling array of strikers to surge ahead fearlessly and unleash lethal strikes on the opponents. No defence in the world, except perhaps for Atletico Madrid’s, appears capable of containing their strikers. They are six points behind Atletico in the Spanish title race; but they have played one game fewer. If both the teams win all their remaining matches, Real will end up three points adrift Atletico.
There is a twist in the tale though. Atletico will play their final game against Barcelona. A Barca win, ironically, will ensure crown for Real Madrid, if everything goes according to the plan. Real Madrid has to win against Valencia to make that permutation work.
Valencia are eighth in the league, with seemingly no chances of getting European berth. Their away form has not been great either.
All the Real’s top stars are fit. Valencia’s defenders will have a tough task of handling Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale, Ángel Di María and Karim Benzema.
