Sevilla-Valencia betting preview
Two Spanish teams feature in both Champions League and Europa League semi finals. The Champions League still maintains the prospect of an all-Spanish final. But in the Europa League semi final, both the Spanish teams come face to face. So, you have Sevilla and Valencia fighting with each other for a place in the Europa League final. After all, Spain will have guaranteed representation in the final.
If you follow Spanish soccer in recent times, you will no doubt predict an easy win for Sevilla. They have been in good form in 2014, while Valencia has been largely lacklustre, save for their stunning 3-2 win over Barcelona at Camp Nou. Still, they have reached so far in the league by mocking the doomsayers in almost every knock-out game.
Valencia’s Europa performance is so different from their La Liga displays in the season that one could be forgiven if one thinks that two different teams are playing out there.
Sevilla, on the other hand, would prefer Spanish teams in the knock-out stages, having ousted their city rivals Real Betis earlier in the league.
Interestingly, Valencia has not won at Sevilla in the last decade. Their last win at Sevilla came in 2004.
Defender Alberto Moreno’s injury is a concern for Sevilla. Their strikers, Kevin Gameiro, Carlos Bacca and Ivan Rakitic, when they get going, are good enough to tear apart any defence in the world.
Ricardo Costa and Diego Alves are likely to miss out for Valencia. They will look up to the combo of Jonas and Sofiane Feghouli for goals.
Sevilla-Valencia Prediction
In the La Liga, Sevilla is in a race with Athletico Bilbao to snatch a berth in the qualifying round of the Champions League. But Valencia is down and out in the La Liga. The team has nothing else to play for in the season. That perhaps gives them a reason to go all out for a win.
