Spain-Chile preview - World Cup 2014
Struggling champions Spain take on Chile in a do or die match in World Cup 2014. They must win this match to stay alive. And Chile are no pushovers. A draw will suit Chile. But Spain, having suffered a 5-1 defeat against the Netherlands, has ruined their goal difference and cannot allow things to be settled with goal difference.
Spain-Chile Preview
Chile is sitting pretty after the win over Australia. But a defeat could put themselves in a tricky situation of having to beat the Netherlands in their final match. Still, they will not play for a draw. The team always prefers to go on to attack. Spain’s uncharacteristically fragile defence will be in for more severe examinations.
However, defence will not get the first priority in Spain’s list of things to fix. What they need are a couple of genuine goal scorers. Fernando Torres struggled badly, and David Costa is not healthy enough to last 90 minutes. Spain’s misfiring strikers could push them to an early exit.
Chile played well below their best against Australia. They will be really happy with the final scoreline of 3-1. Against Spain, they will have to put up a more cohesive display.
Players
None of the teams have any major injury scares. Both the teams would expect much more improved performances from their pivotal midfielders. Spain would love a vintage performance from Andre Iniesta, David Silva and Xavi. Chile, on the other hand, will expect more from Arturo Vidal.
Spain-Chile Prediction
This is a tough one to predict. Expect Spain to bounce back. But Chile is good enough to outscore Spain. Goal betting seems more easy to predict.
