Swansea City-Chelsea betting preview
On Sunday, the Chelsea fans will be more concerned about the result of the Liverpool vs Manchester City game than this one. What they need is a draw from that match. They consider the Swansea game as a low-hanging fruit so much so that they have already set their eyes on Champions League semi final against Atletico Madrid and a potential cliff hanger against Liverpool later in the EPL season. Will complacency and overconfidence spell doom for Chelsea? Jose Mourinho is too experienced and shrewd to allow such mistakes.
As things stand now, Chelsea require the help of other teams to win the EPL crown. If Liverpool or Manchester City win their remaining matches, Chelsea will lose out. Two things are in Chelsea’s favour though. Liverpool host Man City on this Sunday, and Chelsea visits Anfield later in the season. So, the other title contender's winning all their remaining fixtures is not as easy as it sounds.
The team will be in good spirits after a fairytale-like win over Paris Saint-Germain in UEFA Champions League quarterfinal. However, they have lost both their previous away fixtures in the EPL: first against Aston Villa and then against Crystal Palace. Will Swansea turn out to be yet another banana skin?
Nothing in Swansea’s recent form suggests so. With just a single win in their last eight games, Swansea City appear ripe for plucking. Their attacking style of play often leaves the defensive doors open for big name clubs.
The only irksome fact for Chelsea is that the team has not won at Swansea in recent times. All their previous three visits have ended in draws.
Eden Hazard’s injury is a big blow to Chelsea. They will hope that the other young dynamos in the midfield – Oscar, Willian, Andre Schürrle, Ramires and Mohamed Salah – will work hard to cover his absence. John Terry too is a doubtful starter.
Wilfried Bony will be the main marksman for Swansea.
